Structure before growth
Growth is applied load. Most companies add it to a frame that was never designed to hold it.
Every engineer knows a structure has a load rating. Exceed it and the failure is not gradual, it is sudden and total.
Companies behave identically. The revenue doubles, and the cracks appear everywhere at once: delivery slips, the best people leave, the founder becomes the bottleneck for decisions they should never see.
The fix is boring and it works. Define the operating rhythm. Assign decision rights. Instrument the numbers. Then, and only then, open the taps.
